How to merge tracks of the same person or object in Pimloc Redact
When the same person shows up in more than one row of the timeline, the Merge tool puts them back into one row. This page explains when to merge, how to add tracks with the Merge panel, and how to take a track back out.
Before you start
Visual search only works on videos uploaded with Search selected under Features. See How to upload a file. You can also add Search to a video after upload. See Add detections after upload.
If a video wasn't processed for Search, the Search tool still lets you find people and objects by their label. See Find a person with Search.
Search the video
Open the video and click Search in the tools on the left.
Click Visual at the top of the panel.
Describe what you're looking for in the search box, then press Enter. For example, "a person pulling a suitcase", "a red car" or "someone sitting down".
The results show the frames that match best, as a grid of thumbnails. Use the arrows under the grid to see more pages of results.
Describe things you can see, in plain words. Visual search looks at what's in each frame. It doesn't search the audio or the transcript. To search what people say, see Search the transcript.
If nothing matches, the panel says No results. Try a shorter or more general description.
To clear the search, click the × in the search box.
Use the results
Jump to a moment
Click a result to jump to that frame in the video. If the result is of a person or object that Pimloc Redact has detected, their track is also selected on the timeline, ready for you to edit.
Redact or unredact one result
If a result is linked to a detected person or object, hover over it to show the eye in its top-right corner. Click the eye to redact or unredact that person in every frame.
Results without an eye show a moment in the video that isn't linked to a detected person or object. To hide something in that frame, add a box by hand. See How to manually track a person or object or How to redact a fixed area with a zone.
Redact or unredact every result on the page
Click Redact all to redact every detected person or object in the results on this page. Click Unredact all to unredact them. Results on other pages don't change.
Check the result with Preview before you export. See Check the redaction with Preview.
